Here you will find submission guidelines, a friendly person behind the blog posts, editing advice and other like-minded souls lurking shyly in corners or dancing about in the comments section.

  3. Oooh, this site looks promising. I'm adding it to my Favourites list!

  4. Thanks, Talli, Sarah. On a Favourites list already? Oh my, the pressure!

We are going to hurry up, Talli, never fear. The official launch is planned for Spring 2011, but we may be able to pre-empt that slightly. Plans are afoot ...

  6. Congratulations on the Embrace Books Launch, Jane! Very exciting news, for us writers and readers too!

  7. I would love to get romance readers on here too, Sally, but alas, no books available to read yet. This is a pre-launch blog, to let writers know what we want for the line and keep potential readers abreast of the publishing schedule in advance.

Gosh, it's going to be fun. Hard work, but great, great fun!

  8. Well, I'm spreading the word. Get ready for some interest from Ireland!

  11. Nice to see the blog up and running, Jane.
I'll spread the word. I might try and get a story to you as well!
Best of luck with the venture!

  12. I've got some subs in the inbox, but would love more!

If anyone has sent a submission and not had an acknowledgement, leave a comment here or on Fb/Twitter. Tested jane@saltpublishing.com today and it was working fine, but Twitter claimed it wasn't able to send emails to that address.

Probably just mad old Twitter going wrong again, but I thought I'd check. Don't want anyone's hard work to go astray. ;)

  14. Hi, was just wondering, what word count are you looking for for the novellas? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hi, strictlyinkwell, as it says in the side column a few inches away from this box, we take novellas up to 25K. But I guess I'll have to get used to people asking for the guidelines, even when they've been posted up right next to the comment, lol.

Hmm, perhaps I should put that bit in bold. Yes, that's a good idea. Thank you. J.

  16. Congratulations on the launch of Embrace Books Jane. You must be so excited. I'm going to have a look at your guidelines now to see if my Roman historicals fit the bill!

  17. All done on the emboldening of my novella word count!

Caroline, I am very excited! Basically, anything that would be suitable for M&B would be suitable for us, even with the slightly shorter word count, as word count is pretty flexible.

Thanks to Sally, Anne, Ita and Suzanne for your good wishes. We must organise some kind of launch celebration when it arrives - even if it has to be mainly a cyber-based one!

  18. Thx for that. For some reason my computer wouldn't show all the words on the side panel

    ReplyDelete
  19. Seriously? That's not good ...

Hope it's fixed now and you can see all the information. :)

  20. Congratulations, Jane. Great blog and wonderful project. Ooh more books to choose for my ereader, I'm addicted (good show!) Judy

  21. Hi,

Congrats on New Venture! Way to go - e-books have at last come of age.

Bizarre as it may seem your choice of "Red Velvet" line is the same title as e-book publisher (Red Velvet Books financed by self on behalf of a friend.) It hit the Internet way back when e-books were scorned upon as "not real books". Oh the irony! Had Liza hung in there it would have been the largest e-publisher to date, numerous authors were signed up at the time but sales couldn't match input. How times have changed!!

So double congrats and sincere best of luck with this.

  22. Hey Jane,

Many congrats on the launch. So excited for you!

And the first subs are in already? Wow! Wish I had your job. LOL

Best of luck with launching it all. I'll be keeping an eye on Embrace Books.

  23. Thanks, Judie. We're hoping it won't be too long before we have some romantic wares to tempt you with.

Francine, how sad. Oddly, there's another Embrace out there too, epublishing Christian self-help books. Hopefully there won't be much of an overlap with our content, lol!

And Cathie, if you don't submit something to Embrace, even if it's only a novella, I shall be very disappointed. You have been warned!

  24. Sorry, that should have been 'Judy'. Mea culpa.

  25. Jane, I'm seeing a lot of strange if's and endifs and code in the side text, just to let you know!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks, Sally. Which browser are you using? I wonder if there's an incompatability?

I cut and pasted the text from a Word doc, which may be the issue, but perhaps if I type it up direct - groan! - you will see it properly.

I see it fine on Firefox for Mac. Anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi,

Yeah, the code is on full view - I put it down to gremlins but its persisting as part of text!

Try putting/checking it through universal browser facility via your html software ie., Dreamweaver/Firefox, whatever. There will be a function for checking to make sure html coding is invisible for all browsers!

  28. Dear Jane,

I subbed by e mail at 12.36 today. Should I have had an automatic acknowledgement or could my MS have been 'gobbled'?

Or am just being far too impatient!

    Best,

    Rach.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm not doing auto-acknowledgements for Embrace, Rachel. I like to make sure I actually have a ms before telling someone I do.

I can see your sub in the inbox. Email receipt coming up ...

    Best, Jane

  30. Brilliant and thanks for that, Jane!

    Best, Rach.

  31. This is great. Congrats on getting Embrace up and running. Obviously interest is red hot. I will be doing a blog post about this and hopefully you will be inundated with subs. I have a few projects that may fit the bill. In the editing phase now..:)
